I-City revisited

Since my last discovery of this city of lights  I don't know that it has change so much. From only tree lights, now I-city has becoming (almost) a theme park in its own way. I took it for granted, because it located just behind my house so, I don't bother to check it out and pay for it.

This place will keep on expanding and will become "Theme Park City". Soon, Best Western Hotels will be developed here too.

Working in travelling industry really has its perks. Invitation to check out new product or new travel destinations, Familiarization trip and meeting new people are part of interesting side of tourism field. The bad part tok sah story lah. I've met a client wanted to go to Hongkong Disneyland, complete with flight tickets with budget of RM 250. Best kan? Nak terberak aku quote. Last last tell me the budget is RM 250. Duduk rumah watch Mickey Mouse on TV lah kak.

So for you yang berangan nak ke Hongkong Disneyland with that budget, I suggest you spend your kids' school holidays here in Icity lah.

The latest attraction in I-city is "Red Carpet" - A collection of very 'young' version of celebrities, world leaders, inventors and athletes in a wax figure. For those who had been to London and Hongkong's Madame Tussauds might find this a little shitty. But, come on, this place is a great start (walaupun collections nya nan hado) for those who can't afford to go holiday abroad like others. Alah..jangan nak berlagak la you olls, you olls pun naik low cost carrier jek pegi melancong.

Very the walk of fame kan... Kelas kau.

Once you entered this House of Wax, (silap. itu horror movie with Paris Hilton in it), you will be welcomed by Mr Bean. Actually this wax museum is newly operated in I-city. The installation is still in progress. Soon, these wax figures will have a movement and motion, responding to your touch (um, sounds very wrong here. But trust me, it's not like what you think. Please. haha)

Well, for those who has traveled the globe, and still has spare time during weekends, best jugak datang sini.. buang masa. You can easily spend like 2 hours inside here. Berangan posing posing kan. Lagi lagi IGers.

Contoh seperti abang ni. Very the berangan kan..

Seriously I can't act. Look at me, who threatening a pirate with a smile and hand on waist like that. What a poser.

So, I tried again. Ah, this one is better.
FYI, they provide the props for you to play around as well. Like books, jacket, sword, martial art equipment and many more so that you can play the part and become one of the wax figure (eh?)

Here is me concentrating on the notes. Hey, someone on Instagram asked me "oh! you know how to play piano?" I mean seriously? with Elton John besides me and dead Pavarotti singing in front of me? This set up is so damn good then!

...and what is wax 'museum' without Mr Presley...
Berangan habis aku you olls...
From legend to current performer, this place is kinda okay for a start.

and then this place also has of 'Guinnes book of World Record" section. Women with longest tongue. Nasib tak bercabang. I bet she can finish the ice cream in one lick.

Man with biggest nose. You know, how funny it was when I told my boyfriend about the myth of how people can figure out the size of men's private part from the size of his nose. So, when I showed him this picture, he immediately said to me "oh, can you imagine how big is his private part?"

..and this. Makes everyone happy. Including me. What a nurturing sight and I bet every man feel nurtured with this sight too.

Man with biggest muscle. Smokin' Flexinnnnn' yo.

Mr Rambo masa muda lah.

and my catman. I am a cat person and I almost wanna hug & kiss him!! Lucky I quickly realized I'm on work and with a group of professionals. I manage to restrain myself real good.

Well, they have hundreds of wax figures. But since we are allowed to tour around in 45 minutes, so, that's all I got. I had to take my colleague pictures with crazy berangan pictures too!
As usual, gift shop at the end of it. Anyways, the idea of celebriducks is kinda brilliant. But I don't  know how this celebriducks able to give you kids a different bath time experience compare to normal yellow rubber duck.

You pout well, Mr T!

And then after that we went to visit a Trick Eye Museum next door. It's the same with one in Seoul, Korea and quite shitty if compared with the one in USA.

Next is House of Horror.

Well, it wasn't that horrific. The fact they use plastic mannequin  is horrific. I was expecting real human with scary costume.

Dusty cupboard scares me though.

Here, I manage to take a video to show you what's going on in that dark room. Yes! They should name it "Screaming Dark Room" instead of House of Horror lah.

See? Apparently the ghosts scream when they see us, the human.

and then suddenly I was in the big, freezing, icy room below 5 degree celcius. With my short dress and my well ventilated heels.

I was unable to capture much because I was freezing cold at the 50th second. Not even 1 minute! I already hate air cond at my office when they put it at 16 degree celcius. And now is below 5?

That was the quickest tour I made in my entire life. 50 seconds. I went out with terrible headache and headed home, skipped wet world and other attraction the I-city has to offer. Damn.

Oh, by the way, they have Tornado / Hurricane alley just like the one in USA, here in their water park, wet world Icity. 1st one in Malaysia.

So, yeah. Go. Fill up your weekends here. I recommend. It is not really that bad.
Oh Malaysiaku yang Indah!

Heh.

Guest Blogger: Sweaty American (in South East Asia)

I think I will call my boyfriend "Mike the explorer" from now on. He intended to overtake the number of countries I had visited for this couple of years and will share his experience waaaayyy different than my point of view.

He will starts his own blog soon so I let him test his blogging skill on mine for a post or two :P

............................................................................................................

I want to share with you my view of southeast Asia.  A brief history lesson, first.  My name is Michael and I grew up in Alaska.  The furthest north state of the United States.  For reasons best kept to political arguments with my own countrymen, I might present myself as Alaskan rather than American.  End lesson one.  Please forgive me if I make too many comparisons to home, but this is my point of view.

Downtown Anchorage Ice Sculpture Exhibit in winter

Let's start simple.  The climate.  It is a big change coming from so farth north to the midway point of Earth.  The temperature difference is enormous.  I can sweat in the mildest of conditions in the north.  Now, just think how disgustingly sweaty I must be in this humidity I can't escape.

But, the weather and the climate difference can be easily overcome.  I really want to share my experience with people.  We all have our own preconceptions about "the other side of the world".  Some might originate in the tiniest of truth, but from what I've seen, most are based solely on rumor and images of celebrities.

Before I first visited Malaysia, I was told to beware because it is a Muslim nation.  I hope it's obvious now that I didn't care.  With my preconceived notions of what that might mean, I was a little surprised to see that not only are other religions and faiths condoned, but are actually promoted.  Although, to be honest, I think most people in Malaysia like any reason not to have to go to work.  This is not unlike home, but in the US, the only difference is that the government simply doesn't get involved.

Christmas in Kuala Lumpur

The attitude of the people in Malaysia and the rest of southeast Asia is a little more reserved than what I am used to.  People are quite a bit more laid back in this humid part of the world.  There is a great comparison to much of the rural areas of the US.  One thing that sticks out to me is that nobody is ever in a rush to get anywhere.  That is until they step into an elevator and they are quick to push the close button!  Or, sometimes in the infamous traffic jams where the occasional impatient person might think they can get somewhere faster by honking that horn.

Traffic jam in Bangkok

This brings me to the beautiful, yet sometimes overwhelming motorbikes of Asia.  While common for motorbikes to follow their own rules as if they're pedestrians on foot in these countries, it is unimaginable in the US.  As a newcomer, I didn't know how I'd ever cross the street with all these motorbikes!  Let me tell you, it did take a little getting used to and now, I think I feel right at home with them speeding by within the closest of margins with the entire family on board.

Motorbikes in Saigon

While many goals of people and modern conveniences are the same here and at home, I don't want to lull anybody into a slumber before I can share all of my observations.  I hope to share bit by bit my experience from an American, or Alaskan, point of view of this beautiful area of the world.  Perhaps I can shed light on a few of the preconceived notions we all might have, and I hope to keep learning all the things this Asian peninsula has to teach.  I might even learn a little about myself.

Bersih 3.0 / Clean 3.0

It sounds like software to me. You can call me dumb when it comes to politic. Shamelessly, I admitted to everybody that I don't read newspaper and watch TV news. This is because I'm a Law of Attraction (LOA) practitioner, because "Be thankful for what you have, you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never ever have enough" is what I believed in. In general, what's inside newspaper and TV news tells a lot of negative things compared to positive one. And some people told me newspapers & TV is belong to 'mainstream' party, so whatever I read & watched might be biased. So I skipped it.

I never get a true definition of righteous politic. What is righteousness in politics? I never get a good explanation and insight of every politic party in Malaysia - be it PAS, DAP, PKR, BN without hearing hatred in between enlightenment. Then, I came into my own conclusion that, nothing is enough enough when it comes to POWER and MONEY. It's a man made thing. Politics to me is created from promises.. it's a man made thing. I promise you this, you will get what I promised if you do this. Too bad that,  I don't believe in man made thing. Too bad, I get things done and things that I wanted on my own without have to wait or hear promises. Just, a plain work hard and persistence. Time is gold.

What happened today on KL streets seriously messing with my yin and yang. I tried not to read it, but it has filled up my Facebook general wall, pushes all the nice, motivational quotes shared by positive peoples and cute dogs and cats photos :(

So I started to google what is this yellow, Bersih rally 3.0 is all about?

"The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Malay: Gabungan Pilihanraya Bersih dan Adil) or Bersih (meaning clean in Malay) is a coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which seeks to reform the current electoral system in Malaysia to ensure free, clean and fair elections"

and they want;

1) The Election Commission must resign, as it has failed in its responsibility and has lost the confidence of the public.
2) The electoral process must be cleaned before the 13th General Elections.
3) Invite international observers to observe the 13th General Elections.

but, what all above demands has to do with this?

"yes, we and Indonesian are twin that were separated at birth"

They gave this to the International Observers to observe this even before the 13th General Election.

Not to mention pictures of yellow shirt people bashing cops, cops bashing yellow shirt people.. and thousands ugly pictures been circulating on the internet giving different insight and story behind the pictures which, not just confusing, but, Malaysian really needs help from outside in getting basic education of how to live, act and become a normal human 101.

While other countries working towards better civilization, we are going backwards, towards Planet of The Apes, downgrading our country to 4th world country, like we never taste and achieve  independency. We were ruled and puppetted by Nippon, Portugese, British before August 1957 and now we are inviting them again to observe us like we are incapable to set things straight in our own territory?

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong. I am dumb when it comes to 'perjuangan politik'. But please enlighten me with simple basic definition as if I'm 5 years old child. As 5 years old child, I ask you what is Bersih. And you will tell me the basic meaning of Bersih is "Clean". One word, Clean. When it comes to the word clean, I understand that, your intention, action and execution will portray the cleanliness. Just like PeTA. No fur.

So they go naked.

But Malaysian Bersih 3.0 left its shit on the streets and carry home their shitty attitude;

So, please tell me, as if I am 5 years old child, this is the kind of movement and action I should believe in? At definition stage, you already failed to give me, a 5 years old child to understand it literally, so how are you going to explain it to me further on motto, goal and oath? Disgusting!

And we are officially make our country as an education hub. No way! I won't be sending my kids to study in Malaysia and waste my money just to get my kids to mingle with this type of community, becoming barbarian and bring home Malaysian attitude to my home country.

and since this blog has readers from all over the world (because it's in English, ahem) I would like to straight the things out. Whatever you've seen on your tabloid/internet/newspaper about what happened during Bersih 3.0 or yellow shirt rally is not permanent. Malaysia is not having riot everyday. That only happen few hours in a year. It's nothing like Bangkok red's shirt or British riot. We are still live in peaceful, most of us still driving expensive imported cars and carrying expensive imported handbags, school kids carrying iPhone and latest tablet.. No matter how corrupted our government is, they still do their best to make sure no  massacre happen on the streets. It's just, there are some group of people trying very hard to turn this country into Planet of the Apes just to validate their accusation that whoever ruling this country is a stupid shit bastard. These group willing to sell their country's peaceful state just to prove that they are right.

Like a software, Bersih 3.0 has no exception to virus and system failure. Enough said.

Flame me if you care.
p/s: Flame me if you care, but I will stick to my liberality. Im not sided anyone. Because Im rooting for World Wildlife Fund.

Whatever we think about and thank about, we bring about.~ LOA

Malacca Revisited.

Being to Malacca this time around was totally different. I've been there twice with 2 different bfs, (1st time was 7 years ago and the 2nd time was 5 years ago - and yes, they willing to drive for me for few hours, just to be with me for a whole day.. haha, love was crazy back in yesteryears..) and I couldn't imagine that Malacca has great stuff to offer. Food, culture, streets and good angle view.

and no, being to Malacca town this time didn't brought back the memories. Seeing Malacca through my Big Boi's lenses is the best memories and experience I ever had, in fact. I paused, I stood a while, looked around.. I touched the stones and walls, I enjoyed the smell and the taste of what the streets has to offer, my face and skin burning under the hot sun.. No one rushes me, I walked with my own pace and yet no one complaining... That's an ultimate freedom which no men, lovers could ever give.

We arrived exactly during lunch hour, my stomach growling when my friends keep talking about Ikan Asam Pedas and Cendol Gula Melaka. I didnt had my breakfast that morning, woke up late at 10am and rushed to Malacca from KL and tried to continue my sleep inside the car. Haaa..

So we stopped by at one of the restaurant by the Jonker Street, just because it wrote 'original Cendol Gula Melaka' and we saw a lot of customers inside. So we figured it out that this maybe one of the popular restaurant with a good food.

So, the first thing that we ordered.. was - Gulai Assam pedas Melaka, of course!

ermmm.. People said "don't judge a book by its cover" well, in this case, please do! The taste wasn't that great as we expected it to be. I love Asam pedas by Johorean more.

and the Cendol, wish they put more of gula melaka in it.

Still... for the sake of posing kan..

We have not explore the street, and yet this restaurant alone already offers traditional Chinese -  Baba and Nyonya Melaka's intricate in every corner, for us to embrace.

Complete with swirling iron stairs.. which I havent seen for ..few decades..and they still have it in here.

Every corner, is uniquely displayed.

Red and gold are the only colors. It is like, Gong Xi Fa Cai all year round in here.

The hall of the restaurant has an open roof, complemented by all the Feng Sui  features - wood, flowing water and fire from the kitchen stoves.

Walked further in, there is an altar complete with a costume for a rent (Myr 5.00) , in case if you wanna make  fun out of yourself, like what I did back in my Da Lat, Vietnam tour last month. Well, no more this time. lol

The upper floor of the restaurant is open for public viewing. Once stepped in, felt like I was in another place.

It was furnished with carves and dragons details. We can skip the visit to the museum at least.

and you can't pose like this if you were in the museum.

Boleh buat cover album Raya Cina with this.

I was looking for Mr. Wong Fei Hong..

Okay, this picture will end the post about the little museum err restaurant.

So we started to explore the Jonker streets, and the sun burning my skin resulting sticky armpits. Oh well, I don't care, I came here not to date anybody.

The portraits of faded paints, cracked wall and old window panes never appeared so beautiful to me before.

There are many antique shops along the streets, I don't bother to ask for the price of some items.. becuz in my pocket only enough for another bowl of Cendol. Yeah, the quest of original cendol gula Melaka still continues.

What a vicious creature..until being strapped down like this.

Some stalls with local delicacies

and oh.. I smelt a real good smell.. and I followed it and it brought me to this place.

It's hot, fresh from the oven. Can't help myself from not to take a bite of it. Close up of goodness. Don't pay attention to my ugly non buffered nails.

and the goodness never stopped, it followed me home =)

Yeah, finally our pursuit the taste buds of happiness came to an end! Look at the peoples queuing for the same reason.

We worked as a team, 2 of us do the queue, frank went finds his beer and me went in to find a table. Fuhh. teamwork done beautifully.

I managed to get a comfortable spot for 4 of us.

Classic. and here comes he real thing. This one with durian paste y'all!!

and this one is original, Gula Melaka style. Thick , pure coconut milk with generous amount of gula Melaka. Syiok!!! It was too bad we were still full from previous restaurant. So we missed the other good foods in here. ah.

Im hungry. Imma find something in my kitchen now. This beautiful red building will end the post this time. Continue with you know what it is after this...aiyaaa.. all those historical ruins and forts ler. Boring lah.
